Many are praying that God will extend His period of grace in the United States of America in these times to allow those who do not know Him to come to salvation in Him. In reading Daily Guideposts, 2017, I came across a devotional written by Rick Hamlin. He was sharing about his family tradition of putting up a crèche. His son, who “…was always a stickler for detail,” set the family tradition so that the wise men did not get put in the manger until January 6, the Epiphany, when they actually visited the Christ child. Today we celebrate the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus’s birth was foretold by the Prophet Isaiah and fulfilled in a stable in Bethlehem. The light from His star led wise men to His manger so long ago.
Today His light continues to shine bright in a darkened world. Wise men still seek Him. Once found, His light shines through each of them attracting others to His saving grace. The immeasurable sanctity of a true relationship with the Son of God forever transforms an earthly life to a Kingdom walk.

Can you sense the frenzy in the air as Christmas gets closer? Frantic shoppers, last minute attempts to do a week’s worth of things in a day, inattentive drivers…it seems as if an atmosphere of crazy has enveloped the city.
Sadly, in America especially, we seem to have lost the true meaning of Christmas. It is not about the latest electronic gadget. It is not about showering people with material things that they may not need or even want and will forget an hour after opening.
Step back, exhale, savor a cup of tea and regroup. Think about the real
Life is precious. Life is so very sacred. How do you spend your life minutes? Are you thankful? Are you joyful? Or, do you incessantly complain about your job, coworkers, family members and friends?
A very special person in my life, who I have known since he was a little boy, just passed from this world. He was like a son to me. Throughout his life, but especially in the months preceding his death, we were blessed to have some deep conversations. I wish you a most blessed second week of Advent! Last week’s theme was peace. I pray you are successful in ‘being the peace’ in your world. It is not always easy but with intention you can live in the peace Jesus died to give you. Live with purpose seeking first the Kingdom of God and all will be added unto you. Keep His peace in your heart (for it is always a heart issue) throughout the year and it will emanate to those around you.
People watching at restaurants is one of my favorite pastimes. What I know is that no one eats alone. Whether with others at the table or not, cell phones or computers are always present and in use. I have seen entire meals spent on the phone while a person is sitting with someone.
WOW-when did we as a culture become so disrespectful of one another? 99.9% of what I hear (for some reason folks talk extra loud on their cells) is just chatter. Turn off the electronics! Really engage with those around you.
