Go in Peace
&
Be Healed
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is of the woman with the issue of blood. She had “suffered many things” for twelve years. She had gone to many physicians for help but continued to get worse. She “spent all that she had.” Her situation seemed hopeless. But then she heard about Jesus.
She pressed through a crowded throng of people just be able to touch the very hem of His garment. She pressed through, trying to remain unseen, eating the dust from sandals walking in front and around her just to touch His clothes. You see, in that time in history, she was considered unclean and not to be out among people. So she stayed low to get to Him unnoticed.
From the story it seems the only one who knew she touched Him was Jesus. He asked twice who had touched Him because He felt His healing power go out to her. With fear and trembling she fell before Him and told Him “the whole truth.” Jesus told her to “Go in peace” and to “be healed.”
How Long Have You Been Waiting?
Let’s break this down. This woman had endured many trials for twelve long years. She went to every medical person she knew to get help. She got worse. She did not just have one affliction but many. She was overwhelmed with physical challenges.
Blood is life force. Blood flows through the body bringing life to every cell and every organ system. Blood is generational. She was hemorrhaging life. She spent all that she had: her money, her energy, her hope, her stamina. Do you ever feel as if your life force is draining due to many issues? Are you drained from worry and anxiety? Has this been ongoing for years?
This woman pressed through the multitude of people who could not understand her challenge. She was not like them in her situation. She was separate from the ‘day to day’ of ordinary life. There was no one accompanying her. She was alone in her infirmity. She was alone in her desperation. Whatever challenge you may face, do you at times feel alone, out of sync with the everyday life of others? Do you cry out in your spirit feeling no one understands what you are going through?
Release It All To Him
It is when she responds to Jesus, speaks her whole truth to Him and falls before Him that He speaks to her. He said two things that required her to take action: “Go in peace” and “be healed.” She was to go forward in her life in peace. The peace He offered surpassed all understanding. What had gone before was finished.
Her faith had been instrumental in her healing. Now she had only to walk onward in an atmosphere of peace free of the worry and torment that had been her life before her encounter with Jesus. As she walked in peace she was healed. Stay before Him in fullness of truth. Let Him hear from the depth of your heart. Receive His peace.
What I see in His direction to this woman is to stay in peace. Turmoil greatly impedes healing in the natural. Disorder and confusion greatly impede healing in the spirit. It is difficult if not impossible to hear God with clarity when the atmosphere around you is charged with every disruptive thing.
In this season you are here with a very specific role ‘for such a time as this.’ It takes focus and conviction to stay on the Kingdom path and not get derailed by the things of the world. In the strength of faith, move forward in His peace and be healed.
Sometimes ‘Suddenly’ Takes Some Time
Whatever your challenge, know this: the length of time does not matter. The number of things suffered does not matter. The opinions of many physicians do not matter. Whatever you have spent in time, money, energy, life force before does not matter.
God redeems the time! Know that. He and He alone is the Great Physician. This woman was healed “immediately” when she touched His hem but she struggled for twelve years before it was her set time to be healed.
Throughout the healing scriptures there is most often a time preceding a ‘suddenly’ healing: the woman with the issue of blood-twelve years; the woman in the temple-eighteen years; the man blind- from birth; the man at the pool of Bethesda-thirty eight years, and so on.
These stories tell you that although their healing did come ‘suddenly’ their infirmity was long term. The ‘immediate’ healing came at their set time in His perfect time. There is a set time for each of us. Hold fast to your faith until your time.
Walk in His peace with your eyes firmly fixed on His Kingdom truth for healing. His truth trumps any diagnosis. I am not saying to forgo medical help. That would be foolish. I am saying to pray about what you are told and to remember that only God has the final say on His people. Discern worldly fact from Kingdom truth. There is a huge difference. Whatever you are walking through, go in peace and be healed!
It Is Never Too Late!
If you have not yet made the decision to accept Jesus into your heart, do it now. Do not wait another minute. Speak to Him from your heart (for it is always a heart issue). Tell Him you have fallen short in your life. Sincerely apologize for your sins. Ask Him to cleanse you and come into your heart and be Lord over your life. From this moment forward let His Spirit guide you along the narrow road that leads to everlasting life.
Quotes to Ponder This Week
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well. “Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” “~Jesus, Mark 5:25-34
“Behold, I make all things new.” ~ Revelation 21:5
