Step Away From the Door!
There was a picture on social media recently with a person’s hand on a door knob. The caption read: “You ask God to open and close certain doors. Take your hand off the door knob.” WOW…how profound! How many times do you ask God just that? Yet, do you keep your hand on the door knob? Do you try to turn it countless times to make sure it still works? Do you try to open or close the door yourself, just in case God is busy elsewhere? I have been guilty of all of the above at times. How about you?
Take Your Hand Off the Doorknob!
What I have learned and still continue to learn is that God’s timing is what really matters. In our microwave society it is so easy to want everything right now. However, if you walk with the Lord any length of time you learn that what you may think is the best can often be so very far from what He is doing and will ultimately do in your life. Through people and situations He will grow and equip you. He will mold and shape you into exactly what He has ordained for your life ‘for such a time as this.’ It often will not make sense in the natural. Sometimes, you may even know His hand is on a situation but you cannot figure out what He is doing. Take your hand off the doorknob!
You are Chosen…Choose!
He has chosen you from before the beginning of time. If you choose Him, He will frame your character to align with His. He will break your heart for Him and His Kingdom. He will restore your heart to beat in sync with His heart for His Kingdom and His people and the lost. Never forget, it is always a heart issue!
As His son or as His daughter, choose now to arise to your rightful place in His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. There is so much work to be done. If you have dropped your sword, pick it up! If you have been a nominal or carnal Christian, choose now whom you will serve! If you have walked away from God, come back now! If you have never surrendered your life fully to Christ, do it now! The time is so very short.
For those of you who have been on the front-lines a very long time, hold on to the profession of your faith and walk it out! Many of us are battle weary yet the battle rages on with increasing fury. Never forget, we are at war. Never forget, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds. Start each day clothed with the whole armor of God for no soldier goes into battle unarmed. Know the Book. Most importantly, know your Commander in Chief, Jesus Christ, and stay in close relationship with Him.
This is no time to walk away. So, stop looking at doors and ruminating. Start looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. Listen closely as He will direct your path. Take your hand off the doorknob!
It Is Written…
“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” ~Matthew 9:35-38
“According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” ~Ephesians 1:4
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—“ ~Ephesians 6:10-18
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~Hebrews 12:2
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” ~Joshua 24:15
