Do You Only Measure Time
As Chronos?
For the past several weeks I have been thinking about the difference between chronos and kairos time. Strong’s Concordance defines chronos (5550) as time, a particular time. Kairos (2540) is defined as a fitting season or appointed time. Chronos is applicable to chronological time in the natural while kairos is a set time of heavenly import. We live in the world and are affected by chronos time 24/7. It is easy to get caught up in going from moment to moment without staying open to those kairos moments that invade the natural and forever change your life.
Sara’s Story
I have asked the family permission to share a testimony with you to encourage you that Jesus is alive and healing today! My friend in Pakistan sent an urgent message asking for prayer following the Islamic bombing in Lahore on Easter Sunday. His message follows: “Kindly pray for my aunt & my cousin sister {Sara} who they were present at the time of blast in the park at LAHORE. They are in critical condition. My cousin sis is badly injured and found ball bearing shells in her brain and blood was clotted in there, doctors helped her a lot but still clotting is there for which doctors are little afraid to move forward to operate. Both are on ventilator…. please keep them in your prayers and of course other people too who were present there at time of blast and badly wounded or met to heavenly father.” (March 29)
Many went into intercession for his family and all affected by this terrible event. Just a few short days later I received this message and picture of Sara. “They are now fine sis just because of prayers and Sara has gain new life miraculously just because of prayers. What has happened was unbelievable. This is Sara. Her mother is fine too and out of hospital . (4/6)
Please keep Sara and all affected by terrorism throughout the world in your prayers. In a moment of chronos her life was severely altered with little hope in the natural. Yet God stepped in in a Kairos moment and touched her. Whatever you are dealing with know that God is right there with you. In His time and His way He will step in for you as well. Believe without doubt!
What Time Is It?
An offshoot of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the massacre targeted against Christians in Lahore. They plan to continue such attacks until Sharia Law is imposed throughout the country. Sara’s story makes a news headline a world away so very poignant and real. We read daily about attacks by Islamic extremists throughout the world. Make no mistake; this is a violent ideology whose followers will stop at nothing to establish a worldwide caliphate with Sharia Law as the only law.
You can see this simmering right here in our country because we have failed at the very pinnacle of leadership to call terrorism what it is and take steps to contain further advancement. As chronos time marches on stay focused on the Kingdom of God. Live accordingly. Pray accordingly. You are here ‘for such a time as this’ to rise up to bring the Kingdom of God to earth as it is in heaven. This is a kairos moment in history.
Do Not Be Confused!
One more thought. Chronos is also the root of the word chronic. A chronic condition is one deemed to last longer than six months and often is considered to be a lifelong issue. If you have long been believing for release from what has been deemed by man as chronic, know this: only God has the final say on the length of any condition. No man on this earth has that knowledge or power, so do not let anyone take away your faith in the Lord and His ever present healing power. Never let any human being tell you that something is permanent because as you see in Sara’s story, and so many others, God can change anything for anyone in a kairos moment of time!
The Bible says, “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:26). There are specific caveats which you can read in the quote below. Although written to Israel, His word remains true today. God does not limit healing to only certain stages of disease or to only some illnesses over others. “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Period. Stand on that. Do not let it go. Far too many Christians live far beneath the authority and power given to them at the cross. That resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to His followers. Clear your heart (for it is always a heart issue), stay close to Him and let Him take you from the mundane of chronos to the atmosphere of kairos!
It Is Never Too Late!
If you have not yet made the decision to accept Jesus into your heart, do it now. Do not wait another minute. Speak to Him from your heart (for it is always a heart issue). Tell Him you have fallen short in your life. Sincerely apologize for your sins. Ask Him to cleanse you and come into your heart and be Lord over your life. From this moment forward let His Spirit guide you along the narrow road that leads to everlasting life.
Quotes to Ponder This Week
“Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart for Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ~ Jesus, Matthew 7:21-23
“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” ~Jesus, Matthew 10:8
“If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all of His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought to the Egyptians. For I am the Lord that healeth thee.” ~Exodus 15:26
“A spokesman for the Jamaat ul-Ahrar militant group, which is an offshoot of the Pakistani Taliban, asserted responsibility in a telephone interview Sunday. “It was our people who attacked the Christians in Lahore, celebrating Easter,” the spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan, said. “It’s our message to the government that we will carry out such attacks again until sharia [Islamic law] is imposed in the country.” ~The Washington Post By Shaiq Hussain and Erin Cunningham
“You are Lord and You are mighty and You are merciful. Raise up all who would call upon Your name. Raise up those that love You and seek You and trust You. Lord, we need an army of believers that would stand on Your Word above all else. Raise up warriors, Lord, who will fight on their knees; who will worship You with their whole hearts, Lord. Lord, call us to battle that we may proclaim the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Raise them up, Lord. Raise them up!” ~Miss Clara, War Room the Movie
