American Independence
Established as One Nation Under God
This week the United States of America will be steeped in celebration of Independence Day on the Fourth of July. Cookouts, gatherings with family and friends and fireworks will take place in every town across the land. Amidst the festivities let us never forget what this day represents for each of us as Americans and for our Nation as a whole.
Know Our History
On July 4, 1776 thirteen colonies declared their independence from England. George Whitfield came to America with a burning desire to see the thirteen colonies united to become ‘one nation under God.’ Used mightily by the Lord in the Great Awakening, Whitfield traveled extensively and revival spread rapidly. Denominational walls fell, whole towns were revived in the Spirit and thirteen distinct colonies became united in one cause. The Great Awakening played a significant role in the solidification of the colonies in the early days of our country.
The Time For Revival
We have long prayed for a revival for these times. As we watch the news unfold daily we see one government scandal after another. We see intrusion into what used to be considered the sanctity of our freedoms so valiantly fought for by those who have gone before us. We see rights and freedoms of expression being systematically done away with for those who are called Christian in this land. This week in Starke, Florida, we saw the first atheist monument allowed on government property in the United States. This monument is in protest to a stone slab with the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn.
We are now a country divided on many issues. To continue down this path will leave us much like those at the Tower of Babel. We no longer speak a language of unity but rather a language of division. This divisive rhetoric flows from the very hallowed halls in our Nation’s capital. We have listened to contentious dialect far too long now. We have God’s promise in 2Chronicles 7:14, “…If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Now Is The Time!
On this Independence Day let each of us who hold fast to our divine independence in Christ Jesus, humble ourselves and pray and seek Him and turn from our own ways to His ways. We are losing our freedoms daily and it is incumbent on each of us to rally in prayer and coordination with our elected officials to once again have a country defined as One Nation Under God! God bless you and keep you safe on this Independence Day.
Quotes to Ponder This Week
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Jesus, Matthew 5:6
“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Jesus, Matthew 5:16
“He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish…” Isaiah 60:12a
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” 1Timothy 2:1-2
“Let me be clear, until the IRS proves that it can responsibly manage its current funds the IRS will not see one more dime in taxpayer funding. We need real reforms. They must be implemented so the American people can have a restored faith that they have a government that works for them not against them.” Chairman David Camp of the Ways and Means Committee to David Werfel, IRS Chief in hearings 6/27/13
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12
“I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that’except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down to future ages…I therefore beg leave to move—that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that service.” Benjamin Franklin, June 28, 1787, to the Constitutional Convention
‘Pray the States’
In Esther’s Warriors Ministry we are ‘praying the states.’ We pray weekly for each state in the order of admission to the Union. Our Nation now more than ever needs consistent, diligent prayer cover state by state. This week please cover Florida admitted to the Union March 3, 1845 in prayer. Pray for wisdom and discernment for the political leaders, pastors and church leaders, the people residing in Florida and for all in our Nation. Each state is important in forming our United States of America. We commit to pray for a different state each week so we not only provide prayer cover but also to make us aware that our country is bigger than the space we personally occupy. These are our United States. Let us pray that we will arise united ‘for such a time as this!’ Please re-post and share.
A Prayer Request
Thank you for your continued faithfulness to pray. Please keep all who serve our country, our servicemen and women and their families in prayer for salvation and safety. They are our frontline on the battlefield, let us be their frontline in the spirit. Also, let us cover all who have come home wounded that they and their families will receive the kindness, help and support they need to go forward in their lives. God bless all our diplomatic and military personnel and their families. Please pray for all in authority over us, for the full truth to come forth concerning Benghazi and for safety in Israel. Pray for those affected by severe weather outbreaks in our country this week. Pray for all throughout the world for hedges of protection against radical Muslim extremists and all forms of terrorism. May God richly bless the United States of America, bring to light every single crooked place and keep her safe. May we may arise united once again as One Nation Under God in this auspicious season in our country’s history.
Please Join Me In Prayer
Father We lift up the United States of America to You and seek Your divine mercy on this our land. As we come to live our freedom in Jesus Christ may we continue to live free where You have ordained us to live in this season. We lift up all who are in authority over this land and pray Your divine intervention in all that is not of You. We repent of any thoughts, words, or actions that are not in line with Your Word and Your will for each of us and for us corporately. We thank You for Your grace in this season. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen and amen.
