May God Shine His Light On America
May Our Flag Continue To Fly Free
This has been a week that rocked America. It began with the horrendous bombings at the Boston Marathon. The horrific explosion of a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, cost many their lives and decimated much of the surrounding area. Next came news of the bombing suspects killing an MIT security officer and wounding another. Boston and surrounding suburbs were on lock down Friday.
I am sure your heart is as heavy as mine has been this week seeing the pictures and hearing the stories of lives cut short and lives forever changed. For the injured and their families life will never be the same. Some lost limbs, some suffer brain trauma. These injuries are severe and will require much to overcome on every level. First and foremost let us all pray for the first responders, the families and friends of those killed and for those in hospitals coming to grips with life altering injury.
The Strength Is In Her People
It is unimaginable that we have been hit again by terrorists within our boundaries. May God look down on the United States with mercy and abundant healing grace for all of us especially those directly affected. In listening and watching news coverage this week I was struck by the tireless reporting of those newscasters. The courage and tenacity of law enforcement and citizens working together to find the suspects and was palpable. During the news updates we were asked to pray for the police and all affected. The pulse of American patriotism and unity came through loud and clear.
Let Faith Be Your Focus
We live in dangerous times. There is no getting around that. We must remain vigilant not fearful. Interestingly, the part of the brain that elicits fear is the same part that controls courage, laughter and faith. We know that God did not give us a spirit of fear so do not accept or receive that spirit. Terrorism is all about instilling fear and as Americans we must refuse to succumb to that ideology. Our country has been built on freedom for law abiding citizens. Our ancestors fought and died to keep us free. We must not let the spirit of freedom yield to fear in this season.
I believe we are each raised up ‘for such a time as this’ to intercede for this country. As Queen Esther stood in the gap for her people from those who would kill them so we stand in the gap for our people from those whose intent is to kill us. Make no mistake the plan is to strike terror and kill. Political correctness in this arena can only leave us vulnerable.
Now Is The Time
I thank God for all the first responders, law enforcement officers and citizens who stepped up immediately and put themselves at risk to help their fellow Americans. This is certainly a time to pray for a radical turning of our country back to God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is clear: “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
O If My people who are called by My name. If we profess to be Christians then we are His people called by His name. It is time to readily reflect that personage.
O Will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face. We must humble ourselves and release any personally held pride and self – righteousness. As we do this on an individual basis we will be better equipped to humble ourselves corporately. Now is the time to fall on our faces and pray and seek His face for our Nation. We must seek His face for the very ability to continue to have the freedom we have experienced since the birth of the United States of America.
O And turn from their wicked ways. It is certainly time to lay down the wicked ways we have allowed to permeate our hearts and our land. It is certainly time to step off the wide road that leads to destruction and get back on the Kingdom highway, the narrow road that leads to life.
O Then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. The Lord has clearly stated that He will hear, He will forgive, and He will heal our land if we do as we are instructed.
“Take heed that no one deceives you.” Jesus (Matthew 24:4)
A Prayer Request
Thank you for your continued faithfulness to pray. Please keep all who serve our country, our servicemen and women and their families in prayer for salvation and safety. They are our frontline on the battlefield, let us be their frontline in the spirit. Also, let us cover all who have come home wounded that they and their families will receive the kindness, help and support they need to go forward in their lives. God bless all our diplomatic and military personnel and their families. Please pray for all in authority over us, for the full truth to come forth concerning Benghazi and for safety in Israel. May God richly bless the United States of America and keep her safe. May we may arise united in this auspicious season in our country’s history.
Please Pray This Prayer With Me
Father I thank You that Your hand remains on America. We stand in agreement for a healing touch for the families of those killed this week; for all the wounded; for their families and friends; for all residing in Massachusetts and Texas and for all Americans. Let us not be deceived by rhetoric but rather let us hear Your voice in this season. As we stand in the gap for America we pray for a turning to You that You will hear from heaven and heal our land. I thank You that you hear us as we come together in unity for our Nation. I pray this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen and amen.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is Lord.” (Psalm 33:12)
