“For Such a Time as This!”
Esther 4:14
Yesterday began the season of Lent. It was also Valentine’s Day when everyone thinks about love and hearts and flowers. It is interesting that Lent began on a day dedicated to love. There is not greater love than the love Jesus Christ has for you. There is no greater love!
During the 40 day journey of Lent, Christians around the world take time to fast, pray and seek God during these days leading up to Resurrection Sunday. As children we were focused on giving up something for Lent. Usually this was candy or some other thing that was desired at that young age. I am thankful that my family not only “gave up” something but also “added” something to our Lenten journey.
Think about how you intend to spend the next 40 days. In reading 1 Corinthians 2:12, I could not help but think that since we are not to walk in the ways of the world, this is the perfect time to discard any worldly ways that may still be in your repertoire. Give up judgment, gossip, addictive behavior, toxic relationships, comparison, blaming, shaming, un-forgiveness, division and the list goes on. Seek the Holy Spirit’s help to uncover and root out those things that do not serve your Kingdom walk in this season.
Walk this Lenten season in kindness, compassion, love, long suffering, unity, forgiveness and more. Live out the fruit of the Spirit each and every day. Lent is such a sacred time. Take this time to truly seek first the Kingdom of God.
Give up what does not line up.
Add more “God time” to each day. Step up and walk the fullness of the Christian walk!
