“For Such a Time as This!”
Esther 4:14
There is a delivery person I have gotten to know over time. He is the youngest on the team. The day I met him I told him he looked like a very famous rock star whose career has spanned over 50 years.
Last week I asked my friend if he had looked up this singer yet. He said, “I will right now. Is he old?” I said old is good at times! I also said that judging from the music I heard coming from his vehicle I think he would really like this performer. I told him the title of one of his more famous songs and he exclaimed, “I love that song! Actually I prefer the older music.”
He then went on to say that he was not very sophisticated. I said it is not about being or not being sophisticated but that he was learning and that was a good thing. In that moment his face lit up, he smiled and exclaimed, “Yes…I am learning!”
It is as if that one moment of positive reinforcement shifted something for this young man. Who knows what words have been spoken over or to him that were less than positive? One encouraging statement planted a seed for him. He is one of the most joyful, respectful young men yet he needed to hear an encouraging word.
Life is challenging to be sure. It takes nothing to encourage another person along their journey. This is especially important for our youth. They are confronted with so much today that we cannot even imagine.
Look for opportunities to bless others as you journey through your day. Encourage our youth for they are our tomorrow!
For it is written:
“Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
