Trusting this finds you moving forward in 2012 with a commitment to set your life in order and rise above any past impediments, issues, mistakes. The past is over so do not stay there in any capacity that would hinder you from living the present to the fullest. Sometimes we are so enmeshed in past patterns of behavior and thinking that no longer serve us that we are unable to move forward in our life. We can stay stuck if we are not careful to seek His wisdom and discernment about His plan for us, trust what that plan is and then walk it out.
Trust is a very interesting concept. Conceptually if we trust someone we have faith in them to do what they say they will and be who they present themselves to be in their outward life. Think of the people closest to you and ask yourself if you trust them.
Hopefully you are surrounding yourself with folk you have faith in and can seek wise counsel from when needed. If not, reconsider your relationships! Psalm 1:1, 3 reads, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful…whatever he does shall prosper.”
There is no time like the present to review your life and change whatever is not the best for you going forward. Does that mean to dump everyone you know and start over? Perhaps God is trying to move you away from some who are not the best companions for you. Perhaps He is trying to change you from the inside out to see the value in those He has placed around you in this season.
Only He knows the plan for you and only by staying close to Him will you begin to see that plan as it unfolds. If we are in sync with Him our life is in sync with the plan. If we are not our life is out of sync, lacking harmony. Are you feeling in sync, harmonious? How is your relationship with Him? Step back from the frenetic buzz of life in our time and seek the balance that can only be found in Him.
We started this with the word trusting then thought about the trust we do or do not place in those around us. The real issue is do we trust Him? Do we trust Him enough to let go of our seeming control over our life’s most minute details? Do we trust Him enough to let go of the big things that loom from time to time in our life? Do we trust Him enough? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart [it is always a heart issue], and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) For me, trust in Him is an ongoing process. Just when I think I have mastered it another challenge brings me to a deeper level of trust in Him if I allow it. Trust in God is like a tapestry made richer and deeper with each experience if we open ourselves to it.
Jesus says, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches [the
enticements and things of worldly living] to enter the kingdom of God [living His way and His will while living on earth]!” (Mark 10:24) The difficulty comes when we do not trust Him enough to know better than we do about what is the best course for us. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus tells us simply, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Do you trust Him enough to come to Him and let Him give you rest? Now is the time.
This week please cover Georgia, admitted to the Union on January 2, 1788, in prayer as we ‘pray the states’ toward the election. God is a God of order and we are ‘praying the states’ in the order they were admitted to the Union. Pray for wisdom and discernment for political leaders, pastors and church leaders, people residing in Georgia and for all in our Nation as we progress toward the 2012 election for President of the United States of America. These are our United States. Let us pray that we will arise united ‘for such a time as this.’
Thank you for your continued commitment to pray. Please hold our service men and women in prayer for safety as there are many who would come against them. May God richly bless you for the trust you place in Him this week to go forward in His grace and power.
