Many people may call you friend in this life but a true and faithful friend is a rare gift indeed. Throughout my life people have said to me, “You have a lot of friends.” Actually, I know a lot of people but in reality I count very few as friends.
A friend is there through the ups and downs. A friend may see your shortcomings but comes along side of you anyway. A friend prays you up and covers you at all times. A friend does not share your personal information or anything you have shared with them. My motto has always been that if someone wants something about themselves shared then they themselves will share it. It is not my call. It is not yours either.
I am not saying that there will never be hurt between friends as we are all human. But the ability to meet each other at the heart level (and it is always a heart issue) opens the door to healing discussion that allows moving forward.
How about you? First, are you a good friend? Second, do you really have friends or do you surround yourself with a multitude of people and activities to get through life?
Good friends are truly a gift. Cherish them. Forgive often. Value their strengths. Rather than talking about their weaknesses, pray for them.
Let them know how much you appreciate them.
