A young man told me not so long ago that he could be angry with God for his situation. However, he went on to say that he took full responsibility as his choices had clearly led him there.
It is so rare that I ever hear anyone take personal responsibility for anything these days. Blaming everyone else, to include God, is more the norm. Never looking at how their actions and choices may have led them to where they are is sadly more common place. It appears easier to attack everyone else’s character, life situation, etc. as the reason for their predicament when in fact it is often their choices and living out of order from God’s moral code that brought them there.
I readily admit things are a mess in our world today. Integrity is not as apparent as it was once. If you live scattered that will affect every situation you encounter. Some effects will be subtle. Some will be quite obvious. Instability breeds more instability.
If you see yourself in any of this, ask God to lead you and take you to a more balanced and stable place in Him. Stop blaming others. Loose the victim mentality. Remember, it is always a heart issue. Check your heart often!
For it is written:
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
