In reading the Bible this morning I came across a scripture that I want to share with you.
For it is written:
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.”
Revelation 1:3
First and foremost, the promise of God is blessing to those who read this book of the Bible.
Second, not only must you read the words but also hear them. Head knowledge alone is insufficient. Recitation alone is insufficient. To hear them is to let them go deep into your heart.
Third, it is not enough to simply read and hear the Word. You must also keep the Word. To keep the Word active in your life you have to live out daily what is written. This means to follow His ways and commandments not the ways of the world in thought, word and action. This means choosing not to engage in gossip, mean spirited thoughts, words or actions directed against another, pornography, addictive behaviors to include sex, alcohol, drugs, etc.
Are you keeping His Word as the basis for how you life your life?
