Standing on THE Rock
Maintains a Solid Foundation in Your Life
I pray this finds you well and prospering. We continue to experience record heat and extreme storms throughout the country this summer. Here in the Northeast the combination of heat and humidity has reached record highs. The weather can definitely affect how you go about your day to day activities. It can be pleasant and not even thought about. Or, the weather can be so oppressive that it weighs on everything you need to do.
Maintain Your Relationship
Situations in life can be like the weather. Things can go along smoothly with barely a care. During these times it can be somewhat easy to set God aside. Not that you forget Him but maybe you do not pray quite as much, read the Bible with any regularity, or simply nourish your relationship with Him.
Let THE Rock Be Your Foundation
Then, as with the weather, a storm comes. An oppressive situation looms in your every thought. Fear and anxiety can grip you so tight. But remember, fear is not from the Lord. He tells us to be anxious for nothing. When you stay focused on Him you can walk solid in His peace through any tempest.
It is not always easy in your humanity to remain rock solid in every storm. But it is within your calling as a child of the King to live above the situations of the world around you by allowing Him to be your Rock. Jesus died that you might have life and have it to the fullest. To live this out requires that He be the focus in your life.
Renew and Refresh Your Relationship
There is an often used phrase, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” This can be interpreted many ways but for this discussion consider that when things seem insurmountable go to the Lord. The first place to turn should always be God. Yes, it is good to have wise counsel and good prayer cover but the first line of defense is always your relationship with the Lord.
If you have let that relationship slip, today is the day to rekindle it. As with any relationship you have a responsibly to maintain your part. Too often we only consider God when we need Him to do something for us. Many times what we ask is not His best so He waits until His perfect timing to perform His perfect will in our life. Keep your relationship with Him the foremost in your life. He will never leave you or forsake you no matter what you may see around you.
The Sustaining Power of Relationship
If you are currently in a good season, praise God. Seriously, praise God in every season! Stay close to Him in every season. If you are in the midst of a storm, know that He is right there beside you bringing you through. Storms pass. Make sure your relationship with Him is not subject to every whim of the season around you. Stay close to Him in good times and in times of challenge. He is there in each and every season.
Quotes to Ponder This Week

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
“We ought to see to it in our Christian experience that when we commit ourselves to God, the consequences will be all right…There is no end to God’s resources” Smith Wigglesworth, Devotional, June 8
A Prayer Request
Thank you for your continued faithfulness to pray. Please keep all who serve our country, our servicemen and women and their families in prayer for salvation and safety. They are our frontline on the battlefield, let us be their frontline in the spirit. Also, let us cover all who have come home wounded that they and their families will receive the kindness, help and support they need to go forward in their lives.
God bless all our diplomatic and military personnel and their families. Please pray for all in authority over us, for the full truth to come forth concerning Benghazi and for safety in Israel. Pray for those affected by continued severe weather outbreaks in our country this week. Pray for all throughout the world for hedges of protection against radical Muslim extremists and all forms of terrorism.
May God richly bless the United States of America, bring to light every single crooked place and keep her safe. May we may arise united once again as One Nation Under God in this auspicious season in our country’s history.
Please Join Me In Prayer
Father we thank You that we have Your Word that You will never leave us or forsake us. Grace us to walk in Your ways and stay focused on You alone. Teach us not to look left or right but to be firm on the path You lay out before us. Let us feel Your presence and hear Your still, small voice in every season. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen and amen.
