Who Is Jesus In Your Life?

Wishing you a blessed Palm Sunday as we enter Holy Week.  This is a most important week.   What better week to really ask yourself, ‘who do I say Jesus is?’ As this Holy Week begins purpose to walk through the days with an awareness of the spiritual overlay as it pertains to your life.  Walk with Jesus toward His passion, death and resurrection.  Place yourself in the daily events of Holy Week and determine each day to make strategic changes that will be sustaining and everlasting in your life.

Sunday

Imagine the atmosphere when Jesus rode into Jerusalem.  People ran to see Him crying, “Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that comes in the name of the Lord.”  (John 12:13)  They laid palms at His feet.  Their answer to ‘who’ was King of Israel.  His triumphal entry was marked by their praise of Him as a King who would save them from Roman oppression.  They sought an earthly King.  They did not believe Him to be the Messiah.  The people even said to Him, “…who is the Son of man?” (v34)  Despite all the miracles He had done they did not believe in Him as the Christ.  They sought an earthly King.  Who is Jesus to you?  Is He the King of kings and Lord of lords or do you look to Him to grant all your worldly desires?

Monday

Monday Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple.  “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations?’  But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’”  (Mark 11:15-17)   As a follower of Jesus you are a temple of the Holy Spirit.  Take some time to think about what thieves you may have allowed into your temple.  Gossip, deceit, overeating, addiction, hypocrisy and religiosity are just a few of today’s temple thieves.  Who do you say He is?  If He is your Lord and Savior chase the thieves out of your temple today. Return it to a house of prayer.  Return to being a temple filled with the Holy Spirit and living on earth as it is in heaven.

Tuesday

Tuesday Jesus went about teaching and preaching.  There were many occasions when individuals and groups to include Jesus’ close followers questioned who He was.  Who is He to you?  Take some time on Tuesday to read what Jesus said.  Apply His words to your own life as they are for you.  If you do not have a Bible just do an internet search for the words of Jesus.  Read them, put them deep in your heart and let them heal you.

Wednesday

Behind the scenes on Wednesday while Jesus taught and preached, Judas was conspiring with the Sanhedrin to turn Jesus over to them.  This day is known as ‘Spy Wednesday’ as Judas was in fact the spy in Jesus’ close circle.  Who do you say Jesus is?  Would people recognize something different in you because you call Him Lord?   Or, do you act as a secret agent devoid of His presence when out in the world?   Determine to let His light shine through you wherever you go and with each person you encounter.

Thursday

Maundy Thursday is so called based on the Latin word mandatum which means a mandate or commission.  At the Last Supper Jesus gave His followers His commission. In John 13:34, Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”  Who do you say that Jesus is?  If He is your Lord and you are His follower search your heart this Thursday and purpose to love others as Jesus loves you.  Live His love commission daily in your life.

Friday

Good Friday we commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus.  While on the cross dying for you He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34)  Who do you say Jesus is?  If you call Him Savior then take time on Friday and forgive someone you have not been able to forgive thus far.  Perhaps forgiveness must begin with you.  Start there and look deeply into your heart (it is always a heart issue) for other avenues of forgiveness.  Let the Lord lead you down the path of forgiveness to freedom.

Saturday

Saturday Jesus was not present to His disciples.  Take some time on Saturday to reflect on who Jesus is to you.  Walk through Saturday with a spirit of reverence for all He died to give you.  What steps can you take now to deepen your relationship with Him?  To have a close relationship you must spend time with someone.  You listen to them and share with them.  You give them a prominent place in your heart.  Where does Jesus fit on your relationship roster?  Make a plan to prioritize your relationship with Him.  Start today.

If you do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, repent of your sins no matter how big they seem to you.  Humble yourself before Him, pray and turn from whatever in your life is not of God.  He will hear from heaven and heal the landscape of your heart.  He loves you with an everlasting love.  Turn your life over to Him today.  Do not wait another day.

“But who do you say that I am?”  Jesus  (Matthew 16:15)

A Prayer Request

Thank you for your continued faithfulness to pray.  Please keep all who serve our country, our servicemen and women and their families in prayer for salvation and safety.  They are our frontline on the battlefield, let us be their frontline in the spirit.  Also, let us cover all who have come home wounded that they and their families will receive the kindness, help and support they need to go forward in their lives.  God bless all our diplomatic and military personnel and their families.  Please pray for all in authority over us, for the full truth to come forth concerning Benghazi, for all affected by recent devastating weather conditions and for safety in Israel.  May God richly bless the United States of America and keep her safe.  May we may arise united in this auspicious season in our country’s history.

My Prayer for You

As we walk through this holiest of weeks, Lord, thank You that You show each of us Your divine plan for our life.  Guide each of us to discern and remove any thieves we may have allowed in our temple.  If we are not transparent in our lives for You direct our path.  Guide us on the narrow path that is Yours and Yours alone.  Teach us to love others as You have loved us.  Lead us in forgiveness of ourselves and those you have placed in our lives despite the distance of time and place.   Help us to walk a closer walk with You.  Deepen our faith and trust in You.  Thank You for all this in Jesus’ name.    Amen and amen.
