In reading Philippians 3:14 this week I was struck by the phrase, “…the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul goes on to talk about the “enemies of the cross of Christ…whose end is destruction…who set their minds on earthly things.” (V 18-19)

Tonight at sundown our Jewish brothers and sisters celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. It is also the first of ten days of repentance culminating in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. We in America are fifty days from the Presidential election on November 6, 2012.
