Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have a Dream”

Today in the United States of America we commemorate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Dr. King was first and foremost a Christian and a Pastor.  During his journey of impact on our Nation he took a non-violence stance.  Sadly, many like to represent him as a proponent of violence and a welfare system that holds people captive for generations.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

He was for equal work for equal pay for all.  He stood for bringing folks together not dividing this great Nation.  His “I have a Dream” speech has lived in annals of history as one of the most eloquent and inspiring speeches I have ever heard.

His dream was for unity.  What’s your dream?  Do you join the madding crowd fighting and attacking anything or anyone that does not line up with your perception of reality or your belief system?  Take a step back today.  Listen to Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.  Read the blog posts linked below from the Archives of Esther’s Warriors Ministry.  Contained therein you will find the YouTube historical clip of Dr. King’s speech as well as the written speech.  Listen to it and read it.

We are in such tumultuous times today much like those times of the Civil Rights movement in America.  Hatred spews across news headlines.  Do not feed into that.  For you are here ‘for such a time as this’ to be the light; to be the peace; to be the unity that will bring our country back together as our United States of America!

“I Have a Dream!”  What’s your dream?

Powerful Words from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” Speech, August 28, 1963:

“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; “and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.” And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:  “Free at last! Free at last!  Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
