Daily Inspiration-How About That Sabbath Rest?

Some folks live in a continual swirl of drama, never taking a moment to rest.  For some, drama is a way of life.  It can be generational.  It can be territorial.  Whatever the root cause, it is detrimental.

Choosing to live your life drenched in drama negatively affects body, mind, emotion and spirit.  The constant stress wears down every single aspect of your life.  Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, mystery illnesses and more are skyrocketing in these days.  Although there are many other contributing factors such as poor diet, toxic chemicals, lack of sleep, excessive reliance on electronic communication, etc., embracing drama plays a large part in the denigration of overall health and well-being.

Often, Jesus was pressed by the crowds and weary from ministry.  In these moments, He stepped away to spend time alone in communion with His Father.  That relationship strengthened Him to go forward.  If He, the Son of God, needed time set aside in holy communion with the Father, how much more do you as a human in 2018 need such rest in Him?

We live in such a fast paced, never stop kind of world today. Think about it.  Even God rested on the Sabbath from all His work.   The human body is not created to go 24/7 yet some push on in this season as if physically immortal.

If Jesus stepped away and God rested on the Sabbath there is a pattern here.  Step away for a time.  Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.  Take a Sabbath rest in Him.

For it is written:

“For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Jesus

Matthew 12:8

“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”

Genesis 2:2-3

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”

Hebrews 13:8

“For I am the Lord, I do not change…”

Malachi 3:6
