Daily Inspiration-Got Idols?

Who or what do you focus on the most?  What consumes your attention?  Is it money, material things, addiction, sex, your professional title, etc.?  It is easy to unknowingly turn someone or something in your life into an idol.  Even your church, your Pastor, a televangelist can become an idol.  Wanting something or someone so much that it becomes your primary focus can also be an idol.

When you idolize you take your eyes off God.

I have seen many miss blessings because they are so singularly focused on what or whom they do not have at that moment. Trusting and waiting for God’s perfect timing is not easy to be sure.  However, taking your eyes off Him only dilutes your vision.

Having no other gods before Him is one of the top Ten Commandments.  In fact, it is number one on His list!    When tempted in the desert the enemy told Jesus that he would give Him all the kingdoms of the world.  Sounds enticing doesn’t it?  Yet Jesus quoted Scripture right back at him:

“For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”

Jesus

Matthew 4:10

So, when tempted to worship whatever may cross your path in the natural use the Word of God to cancel that assignment.  Keep your eyes on the Lord.   He is the Author and Finisher of your faith. He has a perfect plan for your life to give you hope and a future.  Trust Him.  Follow Him.  Remove every idol from your heart (for it is always a heart issue).  Make the decision and do the work to put God first to walk this season free from idols!
