Daily Inspiration-Who’s Got the Wheel?

The first month of the year sets the foundation for your year ahead.  It is the first fruits of your year.  Many fast during January to hear God for direction.  Many dedicate the year to Him.  Many resolve to create change through making long lists of New Year’s resolutions.  Usually, in short order, all is forgotten and life returns to whatever it was last year.

Fasting, dedicating and resolving are good but it is really what is at the heart of all these things that is important.  If doing these things by rote each year or because your church is doing them, they will have little if any lasting impact on your journey.   If you are not “all in” at your own heart level you are just going through the motions.  If you are just going through the motions you will ultimately become discouraged when there is little if any change in  your life in the New Year.

Check your heart.  Start there.  For it is always a heart issue!

Are you fully submitted to the Lord or are you still holding onto some portion of your plan for your life rather than His plan?  What portion of your heart do you hold back from Him?   Really take some time to sit with Him this month and let Him show you those places you are holding onto so tightly.

What script have you written for your life that delineates in great detail how you want God to move for you?  He may not be moving until you let go and truly submit to Him.  His ways are not your ways.  What you think is best may not be at all.  Let Jesus take the wheel this year.

There is much discussion in Christian circles about being submitted to the Lord and letting Him reign in your life.  Who really reigns in your life?  Check your heart.

For it is written:

“…man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

 1 Samuel 16:7

Remember, it is always a heart issue!

“Yet who knows whether you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?”
