Daily Inspiration-“A House Divided…”

There is so much division swirling around today in our country and in the world.  We appear divided on every front…race, creed, political proclivity, etc.  I cannot help but think that corporate division manifests as we allow division into our heart and into our individual lives.  It starts with each of us.

If you follow Christ you are called to love one another.  That does not necessarily mean that you will like everyone but you are called to love them.  Seems confusing, doesn’t it?  Let’s go a bit deeper.  This includes loving yourself and those in your own household.

Many are so conflicted and divided personally that they are unable to form or maintain healthy relationships.  Sadly, countless homes are broken either by divorce, domestic violence or are simply broken trying to appear whole.

We are each broken to some degree from life events.  If you choose to stay broken you will carry that into each and every relationship.  Your heart (and it is always a heart issue) will be as is shattered glass with the sharp edges cutting you and those around you.  To stay broken personally has ripple effects into the church, the marketplace and beyond.

In this season, start with yourself.  Do what you must to heal your broken places.  Seek Him.  Seek professional help if needed.  Carry His grace and healing forward “for such a time as this.”

Pray without ceasing for this country as this is where you are planted.  With all the challenges we face in these United States of America we are still the greatest bastion of freedom in world.  If we do not come together in unity and work across the aisle on every platform (and I do not just mean politically) we will fall.

These are not Democratic or Republican issues.  These are life issues.  These are American issues.  These are issues of freedom.  Jesus died to set us free from sin which totally includes a divisive spirit.  When Jesus spoke about division He addressed kingdom, city and household.  Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.  Your heart resides in that temple.   Division starts in the individual heart.  How is your heart?

For it is written:

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

Jesus

Remember, it is always a heart issue!

“Yet who knows whether you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?”
